START A DEBATE CLUB IN 4 EASY STEPS!
1) Get together a group of four or more 4th & 5th graders and an adult to lead them.
No debating experience necessary for you or the kids! The debate coach can be a classroom teacher, an interested parent, or other adult who has a passion for working with children and an interest in forming a debate club. We take you through everything you need to know to start and lead a club. Many DebateAble coaches do not have a personal or formal debate background, and we frequently work with non-teachers who become amazing coaches.
2) Secure a time and place for meetings.
Make sure you have a "sacred space" to learn and teach debate, where kids can move around, voice their arguments and thoughts, and be heard. This might be a school library, classroom, or your own living room.
3) Get the DebateAble Curriculum Package.
This downloadable Curriculum Package has everything you need to coach your debate club, including Coach Manual, Step By Step Lesson Plans, Activity Book with printable game cards and game instructions; and your own Evidence Packet and Speech Templates for your first Debate Match. DebateAble's entire Curriculum Package is available through Spring 2016 at the reduced price of just $199!
4) Have fun!
We've done all the work for you! We provide you with everything you need to jump right in and start teaching.
